KindPet ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights under applicable data protection law.

Who We Are

KindPet is operated from Guernsey, Channel Islands (GY4 6DB). We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

Our data practices comply with the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2017, which aligns with UK GDPR principles.

KindPet has not appointed a Data Protection Officer as we do not meet the threshold requiring mandatory appointment. Data protection queries can be directed to kindpet.hq@gmail.com.

What We Collect

When you place an order or browse our store, we may collect:

  • Name, email address, shipping address, and phone number

  • Payment information — processed securely by PayPal; we do not store card or bank details

  • Order details, including your dog's name submitted for personalisation

  • Browsing behaviour on kindpet.store (via cookies, where you have consented)

Our store is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at kindpet.hq@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

We do not have actual knowledge that we share or sell the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have assessed our interests against your rights and freedoms and are satisfied that our interests do not override yours in this context.

Your phone number is collected to support delivery — some carriers require a contact number to arrange or confirm delivery of your order.

Who We Share It With

We share your data only where necessary:

  • CJ Dropshipping — your name, address, phone number, and order details are transferred to our fulfilment partner, who operates from China. This transfer is necessary to fulfil your order (contract performance basis under Article 49(1)(b) of the applicable data protection law). CJ processes this data solely to produce and ship your order.

  • PayPal — your transaction is processed by PayPal under their own privacy policy. PayPal is certified under the UK-US Data Bridge, providing an adequate framework for UK-to-US data transfers. Payment data is handled entirely by PayPal; we do not receive or store your card details.

  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — if you have consented to non-essential cookies, data about your browsing and purchase behaviour (which may include identifiers such as hashed email addresses and IP addresses) is shared with Meta via the Meta Pixel. Meta is certified under the UK-US Data Bridge. This data is used to measure the performance of our advertising.

  • Shopify — our store is hosted and operated on the Shopify platform. Shopify processes personal information about your access to and use of our store on our behalf, including checkout data, order management, and store analytics. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Cookies

Our store uses cookies in the following ways:

  • Essential cookies — required for the store to function (e.g. keeping your cart active). These do not require consent.

  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how customers use our store. Used only with your consent.

  • Advertising cookies — Meta Pixel, used to measure and optimise our advertising. Used only with your consent.

When you first visit kindpet.store, you will be asked for your cookie preferences. You can update these at any time via the cookie settings on the site, or through your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to place an order.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Guernsey and the UK, including:

  • China (CJ Dropshipping) — for order fulfilment, necessary to perform your contract with us

  • United States (PayPal, Meta) — both certified under the UK-US Data Bridge

Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely and in accordance with this policy.

How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Order and financial records: up to 7 years, to meet legal and accounting obligations

  • Customer service correspondence: up to 2 years from resolution

  • Marketing data: until you withdraw consent or request deletion

  • Cookie and analytics data: as defined by the respective cookie provider (typically 90 days to 2 years)

Your Rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data

  • Erase your data (subject to legal retention requirements)

  • Restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances

  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing

  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent — this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

Customers based in California and other US states may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law, including rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). To exercise any such rights, contact us at kindpet.hq@gmail.com.

If you reside in California or another US state with applicable privacy law, you may have the right to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes (distinct from selling). To exercise this right, contact us at kindpet.hq@gmail.com. If you visit kindpet.store with the Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-out signal enabled, we will treat this as a request to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising for that device and browser.

To unsubscribe from marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or contact us directly.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you without undue delay and will report the breach to the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, as required by law.

Automated Decision-Making

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. The Meta Pixel involves behavioural profiling for advertising purposes — see the Cookies and Who We Share It With sections for details.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Our store is served over HTTPS. Payment data is handled entirely by PayPal and never passes through or is stored on our systems.

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to or from kindpet.store. We recommend you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive information to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at kindpet.store/policies/privacy-policy. Where changes are material, we will display a prominent notice on kindpet.store.
